The Illinois Paid Leave for All Workers Act was signed into law earlier this year and will go into effect January 1, 2024. We encourage our clients to review their paid leave policies to be compliant with this new law while maintaining a healthy workplace through time off benefits for employees.
The intent of the statute is to provide employees working in Illinois with up to 40 hours of paid leave in a 12-month period to maintain their health and well-being, care for their families, or use for any other reason of their choosing. Elements of the law address eligibility, accrual, notification, carryover, notice posting, and record keeping.
